Monitor Light Bars for a Home Office: Fit, Power & Controls

Compare BenQ ScreenBar Pro for automatic front lighting, Halo 2 for front and rear lighting with a desk controller, and Razer Aether for connected RGB features. First check whether a light bar fits your monitor and the work you need to illuminate. A lamp beside the screen may be the better choice.

Research-based comparison, not hands-on testing. We have not measured these products’ glare, desk coverage, flicker or comfort. Manufacturer references were reviewed November 2, 2026. Current Amazon prices, stock and ratings are not quoted.

Does a Light Bar Solve Your Problem?

What you needStart here
Your screen reflects a window or lampAdjust the reflection source and screen position before adding light.
Paper or the keyboard is dim, and lamp-base space is limitedA monitor-mounted task light is worth comparing if the mount fits.
You work on large drawings or move books around the deskCompare a movable desk lamp; a bar’s position is tied to the screen.
Your face looks dark on callsCheck a separate face-lighting arrangement. A downward task beam is not a substitute for it.
You use two monitors or work across a wide deskMatch the light to the task area before choosing a bar length or adding a second light.

What Size Light Bar Works With Two Monitors?

Match the light to your keyboard and paper area, then check the mount. Adding the two screen diagonals does not tell you the required lamp length. A longer bar does not by itself establish useful coverage.

  • Work stays near the centre: compare one compatible light against the area where you actually type and read.
  • Paperwork spreads under both screens: compare a movable lamp or a wide-coverage desk-clamp light. Check the manufacturer’s illuminated-area claim and its test conditions.
  • Considering two bars: check both mounts and possible overlapping or uneven light. Two units do not guarantee twice the useful coverage.

Our three product examples have not been tested across a dual-monitor desk. BenQ’s manufacturer comparison discusses fixed-position coverage limits. Set your monitor arrangement first, then check reflections and task visibility while the light is returnable. Reference reviewed November 2, 2026.

Compare the mounting ranges

Blue bars show published monitor-thickness ranges on the same 0–70 mm scale. The orange dashed line is an invented 50 mm reference, not a target thickness or a tested monitor.

BenQ ScreenBar Pro4.3–65 mm
BenQ ScreenBar Halo 24.3–60 mm
Razer Aether5–45 mm

At the 50 mm reference: 50 mm exceeds Aether’s 45 mm maximum. Both BenQ ranges include 50 mm, but housing shape, curvature, vents and webcam clearance can still rule them out. Passing the thickness check does not establish compatibility.

USB power differs, too

ScreenBar Pro

Source output: at least 5V / 1.7A

Maximum consumption: 8.5W

ScreenBar Halo 2

Source output: at least 5V / 3A

Maximum consumption: 15W

Check the Razer’s exact supplied power instructions separately. A matching USB plug or a hub’s laptop-charging wattage does not establish the light’s required supply.

Original specification comparison, not a product photograph or hands-on fit test. Manufacturer references reviewed November 2, 2026: Pro mount, Halo 2 mount, Aether mount, Pro power and Halo 2 power. Follow each light’s and monitor’s installation instructions.

Three Feature Matches to Compare

ModelReason to compareReason to skip
BenQ ScreenBar ProAutomatic front task-light adjustmentNo rear light; resolve top-mount and webcam fit first.
BenQ ScreenBar Halo 2Front and rear light, with wireless desk controlExtra rear-clearance, controller space and power requirements.
Razer AetherFront white light and rear RGB with connected controlsConnected features add setup when basic task lighting is all you need.

BenQ ScreenBar Pro: Automatic Front Light

The manufacturer’s Pro page documents automatic dimming and a top-mounted design without a rear light. Compare it when changing room light makes repeated manual adjustment inconvenient. We have not checked its sensor response on a real desk.

Installation check: BenQ lists a 4.3–65mm monitor-thickness range and 1000–1800R curvature. These are preliminary specification checks, not proof that your monitor’s housing, webcam or vents will clear the clamp. Confirm the exact display and the included mounting accessories.

Skip the extra features if: your existing lamp already lights the task adequately, or a separate lamp gives you more useful positioning. Do not assume that an automatic reading establishes sufficient light across every document position.

BenQ ScreenBar Halo 2: Rear Light and Desk Control

The Halo 2 manufacturer page documents front and rear lighting with a wireless controller. Compare it when you want those layers and prefer controls on the desk. The rear light is an additional lighting option, not a replacement for all room lighting.

Installation check: BenQ lists 4.3–60mm monitor thickness and 1000–1800R curvature. Check the rear housing, wall space, camera location and space for the controller. Its power requirement differs from the Pro; see the table below.

Skip the extra features if: your background lighting is already suitable and you only need light on paper. Compare the complete delivered cost rather than treating rear lighting as an automatic upgrade.

Razer Aether: Connected RGB Features

The Razer Aether page describes front white lighting and rear RGB, with on-device, mobile-app and PC controls. The bar is 451mm long; the listed monitor-thickness range is 5–45mm.

Installation check: match the mount to your display and follow the exact model’s power instructions. Check the account, app and platform requirements for the connected features you intend to use. A screen within the thickness range can still have an unsuitable top shape.

Skip the extra features if: you do not want connected lighting. A manual or automatic task light can be a simpler choice for document work. RGB coordination does not establish better task illumination.

Xiaomi: A Manual-Control Design Reference

The Xiaomi MJGJD01YL specifications list a 448mm body, wireless remote, 2700–6500K range and 5W rated power. This provides a manual-control reference alongside the three linked models.

An exact current U.S. Amazon offer has not been verified, so we provide no purchase button for Xiaomi. Match the model, supplied parts and seller support before treating another listing as the same design.

Check the Power Source, Not Just the Plug

ScreenBar Halo 25V source providing at least 3A; maximum consumption 15WBenQ Halo 2 power FAQ
Xiaomi MJGJD01YLRated input 5V, 1A; rated power 5WXiaomi specifications

BenQ recommends its supplied adapter or a suitable Type-C source meeting the relevant model’s output requirement. Check the Razer’s exact supplied instructions separately. A hub’s laptop-charging wattage does not specify power available from each accessory port.

Check the Result While You Can Still Return It

Follow the mounting instructions, then inspect from your normal seat. Use the same screen content and room lights to compare light off and on. Note reflections, direct light in your eyes, whether paper is readable, and whether the webcam view stays clear. Stop using a mount that will not sit as directed; do not add force to make it fit.

For a measurement method, use the task-lighting guide. One sensor reading does not measure uniformity across the desk. Our monitor-height guide helps establish the screen position before you finalise the light.

Research notes: the linked BenQ, Razer and Xiaomi manufacturer references were reviewed November 2, 2026. Amazon destinations identify Pro (B0CZ9P1QW9), Halo 2 (B0DK59YKRS) and Aether (B0CTVZ8T7Z); retrieved pages may be cached, so no current offer availability or price is asserted. The mounting-range graphic compares published specifications; the 50mm reference is invented, not a measured test result.
